EPD stands for Environmental Product Declaration. It is a standardised report that provides detailed information on the environmental impact of a product or service over its entire life cycle. Based on the results of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the EPD provides users with transparent and comparable information on the environmental performance of different products.

An EPD usually includes information on various environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, resource use, water consumption and waste management. This information is usually presented in a standardised way according to international standards and guidelines, allowing consumers, businesses and other stakeholders to objectively compare the environmental performance of products.

EPDs are often used as a tool to promote sustainability labelling and green purchasing by providing customers and decision-makers with the information they need to make informed choices and promote more environmentally friendly products and services.

The creation of an EPD involves several critical steps, including data collection, life cycle assessment (LCA) according to the PCRs, third-party verification and publication of results. Third-party verification is crucial for the credibility of the EPD
