  • Low pressure drop and high adsorptive capacity

SAAFCarb MA plus engineered gas removal chemical media is designed to efficiently remove specific gaseous contaminants from airstreams.

SAAFCarb MA Plus media is manufactured exclusively for corrosive environments. Targeted impurities include hydrogen sulphate, sulphur dioxide and volatile organic compounds (VOC). The media is composed of carbon, alumina and other binders uniformly impregnated for optimal removal of acid gases.

The SAAFCarb MA Plus removes 99,5% of contaminant gases from carbon-based air filtration systems through adsorption, absorption and chemical reaction. The pellets trap and oxidise the gases, changing them into harmless solids while eliminating desorption. SAAFCarb MA Plus media's engineering allows the process to be instantaneous, irreversible and chemically safe.

SAAFCarb™  MA Plus media performs at a range of -20° to 55°C under 10–95% relative humidity (RH). Airflow is effective in commercial and industrial systems and ranges from less than 25 CFM (42,5 m3/hr) to over 100,000 CFM (169,920 m3/hr), with velocities from 60 to 500 FPM (1,080 to 9,000 m/hr).

The SAAFCarb MA Plus media chemisorptive process removes the impure gases by adsorption, absorption and chemical reaction. The gas is trapped within the pellet, where a chemical reaction changes the gases into harmless solids, thereby mitigating the possibility of desorption.

SAAFCarb™ MA Plus media undergoes the following quality control tests:

  • Apparent Density
  • Ball-pan Hardness
  • H2S Gas Capacity
  • Moisture Content

SAAFCarb MA Plus media is packaged in 25 kg bags or big bags (1m2) of 500 kg. SAAFCarb™ MA Plus media is also available packaged in SAAF cartridges, cassettes and trays.

SAAFCarb MA Plus media performs under the following application guidelines (actual capacities and efficiencies may vary):

  • Temperature: -20° to 55°C
  • Humidity: 10% – 95% RH
  • Suitable for use in commercial and industrial systems with equipment face velocities from 50 to 500 FPM (0,25 - 2,5 m/s)

The installers must use dust masks, safety goggles and rubber gloves. The spent SAAFCarb MA Plus media must be disposed of according to local and national guidelines.

Wet activated carbon adsorbs atmospheric oxygen, causing low oxygen supply in enclosed areas or packed containers. This can be potentially hazardous for workers who enter these oxygen-depleted areas. Make sure that the workers adhere to the local and national safety guidelines.
