Lighthouse Project Sweden

At Dinair, we are committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. That's why we're conducting a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and developing Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for our air filters. The LCA allows us to evaluate the environmental impacts of our products from raw material extraction to disposal, ensuring we minimize our ecological footprint. The EPD provides transparent, verified information about the environmental performance of our filters. By undertaking these initiatives, we aim to promote eco-friendly practices, improve product sustainability, and empower our customers to make informed choices for a greener future. Learn more about the details:

LCA stands for Life Cycle Assessment, which is a method for assessing the environmental impact of a product over its entire life cycle, i.e. from raw material sourcing and manufacturing to use, recycling and waste management. By analyzing all stages of the life cycle, it is possible to identify and quantify the impacts of the different elements, such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, resource use and pollution.

LCA is mainly used internally by companies and organizations to compare the environmental performance of different products and identify areas for improvement. It is an important tool for making correct decisions on sustainability and environmental performance of their product development. Evaluating and improving the environmental performance of its products and processes is a prerequisite for achieving a sustainable circular economy.

The procedure for conducting an LCA is included in ISO 14040 as well as ISO 14044 and consists of four parts: formulating the objectives and scope of the study, inventorying flows and net system flows, quantifying its environmental impacts and interpreting the results.

Life cycle assessment is becoming an increasingly important part of effective, structured and credible environmental management. They are also a requirement of ISO14001 and form the basis of environmental product declarations (EPDs). They also form an important part of sustainability reporting and are a prerequisite for achieving a sustainable circular economy.

EPD stands for Environmental Product Declaration. It is a standardized report that provides detailed information on the environmental impact of a product or service over its entire life cycle. Based on the results of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the EPD provides users with transparent and comparable information on the environmental performance of different products.

An EPD usually includes information on various environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, resource use, water consumption and waste management. This information is usually presented in a standardized way according to international standards and guidelines, allowing consumers, businesses and other stakeholders to objectively compare the environmental performance of products.

EPDs are often used as a tool to promote sustainability labeling and green purchasing by providing customers and decision-makers with the information they need to make informed choices and promote more environmentally friendly products and services.

The creation of an EPD involves several critical steps, including data collection, life cycle assessment (LCA) according to the PCRs, third-party verification and publication of results. Third-party verification is crucial for the credibility of the EPD .
